This sudden closure meant many didn’t have time to make appropriate preparations to survive the following months of no custom. It was vital for businesses to quickly adapt in terms of operations, digitisation and health & safety.
According to research published by the House of Commons, 45% of hospitality businesses said their profits were over 50% lower than normally expected in February 2021. This being nearly 12 months after the first lockdown shows how much the industry has been affected and highlights the massive need for support.
The future for the hospitality industry
It’s finally confirmed when hospitality venues can open, and there is a buzz of excitement in the air. Customers are jumping at the chance to book tables ahead online, meaning hospitality venues can expect a busy reception.
There’s work to be done to restore the industry but with the world being vaccinated 2021 promises to be a step in the right direction. By organisations supporting each other and keeping an eye on industry demands, they’ll be in an excellent position to thrive. Workers who are well-informed of regulations and who have a keen focus on customer service will see themselves highly sought after.
