What are the rules and regulations which apply to every shift, when working on-site for Whitworths?

Security

We take site security very seriously – everyone has a part to play!

  • Biometrics - You must have your fingerprint scanned to enter our site.
  • Do not let anyone through the turnstile, only you can enter.
  • You must report any suspicious activity to a manager.
  • Ensure that all external doors are fully closed and secured behind you.
  • Only bring in what you require onto site – The company is not liable for any stolen or damaged personal property.
  • The company reserves the right to search any employee, worker or contractor. This also includes lockers, bags or vehicle whilst on company property.

 

Food Safety

We always maintain a high level of standards and hygiene.

  • Spitting is not allowed anywhere on site.
  • Chewing gum is not allowed anywhere on site (FOOD SAFETY - contamination)
  • No nuts, peanuts or sesame seeds to be brought on site (or products containing any of these items)
  • Eating and drinking is permitted in the designated areas only; canteens, tearoom breakout areas
  • Do not eat food in your car or carpark (FOOD SAFETY – contamination, pest control)
  • Do not store food in your locker (FOOD SAFETY – pest control)
  • You must wear the correct PPE to enter any of our factories and warehouse (do not store PPE in your locker, needs to be clean on daily)
  • PPE should NOT be worn in the crew rooms, canteen, toilets, smoke shelter, or in your car. (Please note: warehouse PPE is designed to be worn around the site and this point refers to operations).


Health and Safety

  • You must wear a Hi-Vis when walking around our site (H&S)
  • While moving around the site, please use the pedestrian walkways and road crossings. For your own safety, do not take shortcuts.
  • Treat crossing the road as you would on the public road – you should wait for the vehicle to slow to a stop before stepping onto the crossing.
  • The company will conduct random and ‘for cause’ drug and alcohol testing (H&S – welfare)
  • Smoking/ Vaping is only permitted in the designated smoking areas
  • Smoking/ Vaping is not allowed in any other areas, including in your car and the car park.
  • The possession or consumption of alcohol and the use of or dealing illegal drugs or substances anywhere on the premises are strictly forbidden.
  • Safety footwear must be worn in the warehouse, along with hair nets and beard snoods.
