How do I use the Geofencing feature?

Last updated on 24 July 2024

What is geofencing?

Don’t worry—it isn’t as complicated as it sounds. Geofencing simply means we add a virtual fence around your site location within our platform.

By using the location permissions on our Flexer’s mobile device, the app will know when they are within that fence and will then offer them the option to clock in.

How close to my site to Flexers need to be to clock in with geofencing?

Flexers working at your site can only clock in and out on the app when they are within 200m (approximately 650 feet) of your location.

You can easily expand this distance to 500m if this suits your location better.

  • Go to the Venues tab
  • Select venue
  • Select Edit
  • Select from Geofencing drop down

Can I opt out of using geofencing?

Absolutely! Under the Venues tab you’ll find the option to review the current geofencing rules applied to each of your sites.

Choose the desired venue from your list and select Edit and scroll to the Geofencing section. From the drop-down menu, you can choose to either disable or update the distance.

  • Go to the Venues tab
  • Select venue
  • Select Edit
  • Select from Geofencing drop down

Does this change anything on my timesheets?

Nothing changes on your timesheets, you can still follow the usual process as normal.

How do Flexers use it to clock in?

If the worker is within the designated work area:

They can clock in as usual using their Indeed Flex app.

If the worker is out of range:

They will be informed and shown a map of both their location and the venue's location. Once they are in the designated area, they will be able to clock in.

What happens if a Flexer’s location function isn’t working?

If the Flexer is at the venue but the app indicates otherwise, they will be prompted to refresh their location in the app.

If the problem persists, they can follow the in-app prompts to manually verify their location. This includes entering an on-site supervisor's full name. Flex will review and verify this information.
