At Syft, we’re fortunate enough to be based in several fantastic cities across the UK: London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham. Each location boasts its own distinctive identity, population and must-see sights; in this new, ongoing feature, we take a look at some of our favourite venues in the South East, the Midlands and the North. Zen Metro Thai Restaurant and Bar

How long has your venue been operating for?

21 years as Metro Bar and 18 months as Zen Metro Thai Restaurant and Bar.

What makes your venue a must-visit?

Exemplary service with an eclectic range of traditional and modern Thai dishes. Our team of chefs have spent several years in various kitchens all over the world, ensuring you’ll have an authentic, memorable meal. We earned the Best Thai Restaurant prize at last year’s Lux Awards and were judged a finalist at the prestigious MFDH Awards.

In addition, you can check out the many positive reviews and glowing feedback we’ve received online. After a few courses, you can stick around for our resident DJ playing in our bar from 10pm till late every Saturday. So if you’re out and about in the city centre on the weekend, make sure you pop in.

What are your Birmingham highlights?

The jewellery quarter, Cadbury World, the canals, the superb Bull Ring and thriving food scene. Birmingham has it all covered.

The Lost & Found

How long has your venue been operating for?

Since November 2012.

What makes your venue a must-visit?

Located in the heart of the city, our Grade II listed building has been transformed into an indulgent drinking den and restaurant. We love catering to a diverse clientele and have the facilities to match.

Whether it’s a business meeting or private dining, you’ll feel right at home in our boardroom and secret speakeasy, while our attentive staff will endeavour to meet your requirements. Our creative mixologists happily serve an array of inventive cocktails, though you’ll have just as much fun sitting back with a cold beer, enjoying the atmosphere. We’ve recently reinvented our menu, taking advantage of seasonal produce and a palate of flavour.

What are you Birmingham highlights?

The city’s restaurant and bar scene is vibrant, busy and continues to thrive. Our prime location allows us to be right amongst it and we love the constant buzz and the variety of customers it attracts.

The Canal House

How long has your venue been operating for?

9 months.

What makes your venue a must-visit?

We merge the old and new, bringing a fresh concept to Birmingham. We welcome everyone, from family parties to birthday nights out and matrimonial celebrations- we’re also proudly dog friendly. The Waterfront Festival is hosted at our venue every Bank Holiday Sunday, with live music played throughout during the day and night, giving you the chance to relax and discover new acts. If you’re looking for a broad array of drinks to try then you’re in luck. Sample our homemade gin and attend a gin, ale or cocktail masterclass to find out more about what we serve.

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill

How long has your venue been operating for?

Since 2012.

What makes your venue a must-visit?

We’re situated at the peak of the The Cube building in the Mailbox district, so you can enjoy our delectable courses with unparalleled 360 degree panoramic views of Birmingham. You’ll sample from our extensive menu, including mouthwatering steaks and brilliant cocktails, in a lively setting; if you visit on a weekend, you’ll be able to enjoy live music as you dine. Relax on our terrace with a pre-dinner drink, suitable for any weather conditions. A go-to spot for the stars, you could find yourself enjoying a meal alongside music or acting royalty. We’re set to launch Level 25 Events, exclusive private rooms for exceptional events, whether for work or pleasure.

There’s a fantastic food and music scene, plus the area has such tranquil canals, you can take a quiet stroll by the water then experience the buzz of great restaurants and nightlife.

Slim’s BBQ Express

How long has your venue been operating for?

Since 2017.

What makes your venue a must-visit?

We’re a British take on American BBQ with a substantial Eastern influence. Smoking meat is what we love and we’re keen to share- make sure you arrive with an appetite! Having launched in Liverpool’s Chinatown as Slim’s Pork Chop Express, we’re over the moon to share all manner of burgers, wings and other edible delights with the people of Brum. Our base includes Ghetto Golf, an 18-hole crazy golf course, so if you fancy a bit of sport alongside your meal then you’re in luck.

What are you Birmingham highlights?

The area we’re located in, Digbeth, has so much character and so much to offer in a city with such a diverse population and great background.
