Working with Indeed Flex is great for many reasons, but one of the main things many people enjoy about working with us is the versatility of the roles and that no two days are the same. Sometimes you can end up doing a shift for a business that just clicks and is the perfect fit. You work well with the team, you’ve made friends with the employees and the hours are the perfect fit for your lifestyle. So you want to make sure that next time they need an extra hand, you’re at the top of the list. But how do you increase your chances of repeat employment and make sure that you stand out from the rest? Let’s find out.
Best foot forwards!
To ensure you’re doing your job to the best of your ability, make sure you’re aware and fully understand all the roles that you’re responsible for. All of the duties should have already be specified but it’s OK to ask questions to find the most efficient way to complete tasks. If you do make a mistake, which let’s face it, does happen from time to time, be sure to learn from it. A good employee takes pride in their work and this will really impress the employer.
Know the policies and procedures
Make sure you’re aware of the company policies and procedures. It’s your job to know how to do the job and handle possible situations. It’ll also decrease your chances of making a careless mistake. Not only that but asking to see the employee handbook or manual will demonstrate to the employer that you’re committed to the role.
Be approachable
A friendly and considerate attitude along with a smile makes it much easier for customers and team members to approach you. Whether it’s answering a customer query or helping a colleague, a courteous demeanour helps to build strong relationships, which won’t go unnoticed by your employer. By simply making an effort to be friendly and sociable with colleagues (whilst still remembering you’re there to work), you could find yourself getting more repeat shifts. After all one of the things employers look for in their team is not only someone who can do the job but someone they’re happy to spend their working day with.
Be a team player
Always be a team player whenever possible, as long as it doesn’t affect your own duties. Helping a colleague who’s busy and struggling with their workload will go a long way not only with them but with the wider team. You’re all working towards the same goal so a conscientious working attitude will help the business as a whole. Being a team player also means knowing when to follow instructions and when to lead, so pay attention to when it’s time to listen and when to put your ideas forward.
Find a mentor
Finding a permanent member of staff who could be a good mentor in terms of getting to grips with new tasks, understanding the business and possible progression is a really good idea. In addition, having a mentor will help you perform better at your job and will demonstrate to the employer that you’re dedicated to the position and will be a good member of staff to keep around. Even if you don’t get the repeat employment you were after, you’ll have learnt a lot from this person and the working relationship you’ve built could always lead to new possibilities.
Open the door of opportunity and find the job that’s right for you.
