We’re always looking for new ways to improve the Indeed Flex platform. Our dedicated product team has shared some exciting new updates for the platform, let’s take a look.

Looking into the client experience

Every business is unique, whether that be the culture, the goals or the resources. Towards the end of 2021, our research highlighted that a worker skill that might be essential for one employer might be just a nice to have skill for another employer. Is it mandatory for a Waiter to be cashier trained? The choice should be down to the business.

What’s the problem?

Currently, each role has skills automatically applied based on the industry standards. What impact does this have? We are seeing an effect on shift fulfilment rate as the more skills there are, the fewer workers in the pool there are for clients. With a record 1.2 million job vacancies in the labour market, thanks to the nationwide shortage of workers, it’s more crucial than ever for employers to adapt to attract talent. Having a list of essential skills is not a bad thing. In some cases, this is necessary and fits the client’s requirements – workers should fit that profile. But what about when this isn’t the case? If some of the skills are not required by the client, workers that could be perfect for the job are being overlooked and can’t apply.

How is the update a solution?

We want to give control and choice to our clients. With this update, they can specify what competencies are essential when posting jobs. There will be an easy-to-use toggle that, when turned off, indicates that the skill is flexible. Clients will also have the opportunity to speak with our team of experts to hear recommendations for each job aimed at achieving a better shift fulfilment rate. We’ll include a check box so that clients can specify if they are open to discussing their preferences with the Indeed Flex team. Please note that this excludes any legal skills or certification requirements that Indeed Flex as an employer, has an obligation to fulfil.

Job Templates

Our templating function means that if you take advantage of this new update, you can save your skills preferences as a job template once you’re happy with them. This means you can post jobs quickly and easily with your new preferred competencies.

The benefits

  • Larger worker pool
  • Boost fulfilment
  • More personalised client experience
  • More personalised worker requirements
  • Better worker quality
