My shift was cancelled; why?

Last updated on 29 January 2024

Unfortunately, from time to time, a shift may be cancelled. Here’s why:
  • The employer may have reduced the number of workers required for the shift
  • The needs of the business may have changed, meaning that the shift is no longer required
  • Did you confirm your shift? If you fail to confirm your attendance to a booked shift, then this may lead to you being automatically removed
Employers don’t need to explain why they’ve cancelled shifts outside of 24 hours before they start, in the same way that you’re not required to provide a reason for cancellation when giving more than 24 hours notice.
